DC-DC CONVERTER FOR PV APPLICATION

The depleting fossil resources and an ever-increasing concern for the environment have paved the way for renewable energy resources. The solar energy sectors have experienced tremendous investment and growth in the last decade and the trend still continues. On the other hand, the progress of electronic power converters has also created a new gate in the power transmission networks, so DC networks have more advantages than AC networks. Also, with the daily increase of devices that work as DC, the concept of DC network and integration of distributed PV has become one of the research hotspots in the field of sustainable energy. Considering the output voltage of PV, connecting this type of energy source to DC networks is often associated with reducing losses, increasing efficiency, and increasing reliability. The degree of improvement of the described features depends on the characteristics of the interlinking converter between the solar system and the DC network. In order to reduce as much as possible the power transmission losses of solar systems and also due to the large production power of solar power plants, a connection to the medium voltage DC network is recommended. In this project, we work on an interlinking DC-DC converter for the integration of PV systems to the MVDC grid.
