3 TERMINAL VSC-BASED DC GRID

"3-Terminal hybrid AC/DC bipolar test system, with three 3kW, 4-leg, 2-Level Inverters" This project aims to develop a 3-Terminal meshed VSC-based DC grid, representing a meshed Multi-Terminal HVDC grid in lower voltage rates. This experimental setup consists of three 3-phase 2-level Inverters with 4 Legs which would be connected via the DC side and consequently form a meshed DC grid. Due to the presence of the 4th leg, the implementation of the DC Grid could be bipolar or monopolar. Additionally, the 4th leg could be used to form a virtual neutral node to redress the effects of unbalanced voltages that may be present in the AC grid. It also allows the converter to work in buck or boost mode for the DC side. Every converter in the aforementioned 3-terminal grid could operate in active rectifier or inverter modes. They are also equipped with separate control boards, which can be connected to other controllers or a central control center. This setup can also be used to implement back-to-back converters, AC, DC, and Hybrid AC/DC Micro-grids, Multi-infeed AC Grids, and Inverter-based AC grids.
